Role Overview

The Head of Consumer Underwriting is responsible for leading the underwriting department in PGA SOMPO INSURANCE CORPORATION. The role involves overseeing the signing of cover notes, policies, and other related documents, as well as preparing and recommending the Reinsurance Treaty Program to the management committee for approval.

The Head of Consumer Underwriting will also oversee the preparation and submission of regional office's reporting requirements and regulatory reports. Furthermore, the role requires the proper implementation of work processes and recommending changes or enhancements to promote better productivity and cost efficiency.

In this role, the Head of Consumer Underwriting will review evaluations made by underwriters on insurance applications and approve within given limits of authority. This includes initiating portfolio reviews in coordination with the Claims Department to determine the profitability profile per assigned lines.

The Head of Consumer Underwriting will conduct periodic reviews of underwriting guidelines and update as necessary. Additionally, the role involves updating job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
