Medical Coding Specialist

This role requires translating doctor's notes and medical records into universal codes used by insurance companies and healthcare systems.

The primary responsibility is to ensure accurate coding of healthcare services, resulting in correct billing and provider payments.

Additionally, this position involves utilizing knowledge of medical terms and guidelines to guarantee precise and compliant documentation.

Critical to the success of the healthcare billing process, you will play a crucial role behind the scenes.

Key qualifications include adherence to performance standards, maintaining required levels of coding accuracy and productivity, and abstracting additional data elements during chart reviews.

A strong understanding of CPT and ICD-9 codes is necessary for identifying appropriate assignments in various settings.

Staying up-to-date with coding knowledge through regular review of materials disseminated by management is also essential.

  • With active AHIMA or AAPC Medical Coding Certification (CPC-A, CPC, CIC, CCS, COC)
  • Experience in coding from paper charts as well as EMR
  • Understanding of ICD-9 or ICD-10 Coding in relation to HCC/Risk Adjustment Coding
