Are you looking for a challenging and rewarding role in the engine department of a container shipping company? Do you have experience as a fitter on foreign going vessels and a strong background in welding, lathe machine operation and pipe works?

Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled fitter to join our team onboard one of the world's largest container shipping companies. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing safe and efficient operations, including storing the vessel, performing maintenance on critical equipment and reporting any unsafe acts or conditions.

The ideal candidate will have at least 12 months experience as a fitter on foreign going vessels and a strong background in welding, lathe machine operation and pipe works. They will also have knowledge of ISM, ISPS and security related duties, as well as emergency procedures such as fire, abandonment and man overboard.

The fitter will work closely with the Chief Engineer, Second Engineer and other functions on board to ensure safe and efficient operations. They will also be required to participate actively in safety meetings, post drill briefings and other meetings to provide feedback for overall improvement of the safety, compliance and operational aspects.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • At least 12 months experience as a fitter on foreign going vessels
  • Strong background in welding, lathe machine operation and pipe works
  • Knowledge of ISM, ISPS and security related duties
  • Emergency procedures such as fire, abandonment and man overboard
