Job Overview

The role of the On-Site Architectural Design Officer involves overseeing design-related aspects of construction projects directly at the site. This position ensures that the design intent is accurately implemented, coordinates with contractors and consultants, and resolves design issues during construction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design Implementation & Oversight – Ensure architectural/engineering plans and specifications are correctly interpreted and executed on-site.
  • Monitor construction activities to verify alignment with approved drawings and design intent.
  • Provide, review and approve all necessary site drawings including but not limited to shop drawings, spot details (RFA/RFI).
  • Conduct regular inspections and site walks to assess progress and quality.
  • Check all materials associated with installations in accordance with approved submittals and product data to ensure compliance.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to resolve design-related issues.
  • Attend coordination meetings and provide architectural input during site discussions; preside the design coordination meetings.
  • Liaise with the design team for clarifications, revisions, and updates.
  • Participate, coordinate and schedule all consultant's attendance during construction meetings and periodic site inspections.
  • Review all materials and finishes associated with installations in accordance with approved submittals and product data to ensure compliance with design specifications.
  • Ensure construction adheres to building codes, zoning laws, and safety regulations.
  • Prepare and submit architectural/engineering inspection requests and punch lists.
  • Check the progress of construction is properly executed during execution phase.
  • Prepare punch list reports of all defective, deficient, incomplete, and unsatisfactory works for correction and repair.
  • Conduct spot checking and examine/evaluate the quality of installations to maintain compliance with construction standards and specifications.
  • Check the testing and sampling of materials and ascertain that all samples requiring testing are properly done, recorded and reported.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Must be a graduate of Architecture and/or Civil Engineering.
  • At least 5 years of work experience related to construction operation.
  • Must be focused, driven, a team player.
  • Can work under pressure.
  • With acceptable oral and written communication skills.
  • With expertise in the use of Microsoft Office, AutoCAD and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Knowledge and experience in infrastructure development and civil works is a plus.
