Conference and Banquet Operations Manager

This role is responsible for managing all functions of conference and banquet operations to achieve optimum revenue targets. The Conference and Banquet Operations Manager will be required to conduct sales visits, telephone calls, write letters, send emails and extend invitations to clients to visit the hotel.

The successful candidate will be expected to follow up on all enquiries and analyse historical and statistical information. They will also be required to entertain clients with the objective of securing business or strengthening ties when required, negotiate terms pertinent to the sale of conference and banqueting services, conduct site inspections and tour familiarizations, conduct client interviews, attend trade shows and sell conference space when directed, establish leads from newspapers, magazines and relevant industry documents and follow up, maintain a regular pattern of sales calls and monitor competitor activities.

Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining contact with key decision-makers in the meetings and events industry, including business generators, meeting and convention planners, visitors/convention Bureau/ travel agents, tour operators, airlines, corporate accounts, Government Departments and other producers closely allied to hotel business. The Conference and Banquet Operations Manager will also assist in the co-ordination of conference sales/promotional events and activities, assist in the operation of banquet functions and provide exceptional customer service.
