Embedded Linux Software Engineering Opportunity

Canonical is seeking an experienced Embedded Linux Senior Software Engineer to optimize Ubuntu, the world's most widely used Linux desktop and server. The ideal candidate will design and implement the best Ubuntu integration for the latest IoT and server-class hardware platforms and software stacks.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement optimized Ubuntu integration for the latest IoT and server-class hardware platforms and software stacks.
  • Work with partners to deliver a delightful, first-class Ubuntu experience on their platforms.
  • Take a holistic approach to the Ubuntu experience on partner platforms, providing inputs on technical plans, testing strategy, quality metrics.
  • Participate as a technical lead on complex customer engagements involving complete system architectures from cloud to edge.
  • Help customers integrate their applications, build device OS images, optimize applications with Ubuntu Core, Desktop, and Server.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in Linux packaging (Debian, RPM, Yocto), open-source communities, and licenses. Experience working with C, C++, and the ability to work in a globally distributed team through self-discipline and self-motivation are essential.

Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, STEM, or a similar field.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux packaging (Debian, RPM, Yocto).
  • Experience with open-source communities and licenses.
  • Proficient in C, C++ programming languages.
  • Ability to work in a globally distributed team.
