Key Job Role

We seek a highly skilled professional to fill the position of Senior Observability Engineer.

  • The chosen candidate will play a pivotal role in integrating OpenTelemetry into software applications and designing, building, and maintaining the Observability Platform as part of DevOps Tooling and Capabilities.
Responsibilities:
  • This individual will work closely with Observability and DevOps Engineers to design, build, deploy, and maintain an Observability solution aligned with our IT strategy and vision.
  • The selected person will integrate the Observability solution into delivery pipelines and application codebases across teams.
  • They will communicate with governance streams to ensure adherence to process, quality, and architectural design.
  • The successful candidate will deliver against functional and non-functional requirements, taking ownership and accountability for development of key features.
  • Collaboration with architecture is required to guide software solutions using technical experience.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:

Required skills include understanding of Observability pillars, knowledge of tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, OpenSearch, and CloudWatch, hands-on experience in deploying and managing AWS resources, and demonstration of current experience of hands-on Full-Stack Software Engineering using Java or Microsoft c#, Typescript, JavaScript, Python, and PowerShell.

Desirable skills include experience of using and setting up enterprise-level Monitoring tools, OpenTelemetry – instrumentation and use of OTEL solutions, APM Experience - AppDynamics DataDog Dynatrace, AWS OpenSearchElastic, and ingestion tooling Crbl, Grafana & Prometheus, knowledge and use of Cloud Technologies and concepts preferably on AWS or Azure/GCP etc., experience of utilising Dev(Sec)Ops to automate and minimise delivery times from Development to Production e.g. utilising CICD, use of and working with Containerization to aid deployability, testing, and loose coupling, Agile exponent to speed up delivery, reduce risk, and provide maximum value to end users, Knowledge of the Broking Trading business domain, Knowledge or application of the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).
