Medical Billing Specialist Role

We are seeking a Medical Billing Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing medical charges, payments, and journal entries to patient accounts in a timely and accurate manner.

Main Responsibilities:

  • The role requires verifying correct insurance filing information on behalf of the client and patient.
  • The specialist will prepare, review, and transmit claims using billing software.
  • Follow up on unpaid claims within the standard billing cycle time frame is essential.
  • The specialist must research and appeal denied claims.

Additional Requirements:

  • Able to perform eligibility verification and precertification through the web or verbally with insurance companies.
  • Call insurance companies and obtain claim status with different payers and document it in the system.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of insurance guidelines, including HMO/PPO, Medicare, and state Medicaid is necessary.
  • Ability to handle protected health information in a manner consistent with HIPAA regulations.
