Senior Backend Engineer

About the Role:

  • We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Backend Engineer to join our dynamic API team.

This role involves designing, developing, and maintaining high-performance, scalable, and reliable backend solutions.

You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver exceptional backend services and integrations.

As a senior member of the team, you will contribute to architectural decisions, mentor other engineers, and ensure best practices are implemented across the backend infrastructure.

This is a hands-on role that requires a balance of technical expertise, collaboration, and strategic thinking.

Key Responsibilities
  • You develop scalable, reliable, and high-performance APIs as part of the backend team.
  • You actively contribute to system scoping, drafting technical specifications, and conducting code reviews.
  • You establish and maintain best practices for backend infrastructure with a strong focus on scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
  • You design and implement robust test cases for new APIs and integration capabilities.
  • You deploy changes and execute migrations in an agile, iterative manner while ensuring backward compatibility.
  • You mentor junior engineers and foster knowledge sharing through code reviews and technical sessions.
  • You troubleshoot production issues across various services and infrastructure layers.
  • You collaborate with cross-functional teams to scope, design, and deliver key features on the product roadmap.
  • You participate in the continuous improvement of processes and tools related to CI/CD, observability, and the overall development workflow.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum 6 years of professional experience in backend software development, with a strong focus on public-facing API products.
  • Deep knowledge of full-stack technologies required to build and run APIs; experience with FastAPI is highly desirable.
  • Expertise in RESTful API design and implementation, ensuring scalability, security, and performance.
  • Proven experience with microservices architecture and event-based technologies such as webhooks.
  • Applied AI tools and technologies in API development and integration workflows.
  • Proficient in SQL and advanced database design, with strong skills in performance optimization.
  • Hands-on experience with observability and monitoring tools such as Datadog, New Relic, or similar.
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD methodologies and practical experience in pipeline automation.
  • Strong experience working with AWS, particularly services like API Gateway, Lambda, and the Serverless Stack.
  • Familiarity with agile software development methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban.
  • Ability to gather, analyze, and document technical requirements and translate them into actionable specifications.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
