Accounting Specialist Job Description

The accounting specialist is a crucial role in our organization, responsible for performing routine accounting activities.

  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for multiple clients and industries.
  • Preparation of bank reconciliations and credit card reconciliations.
  • Understanding payroll preparation and its relation to year-end information.
  • Reviewing accounts for accurate postings and calculating retained earnings.
  • Assisting clients with accounting, payroll, and software issues.
  • Preparation of quarterly and year-end payroll tax returns.
  • Assisting tax/accounting and audit departments with client reports.
  • Preparation of annual information returns (1099 & 1096).
  • Preparation of sales and use tax returns, when applicable.
  • Conversion of accruals to cash, when necessary.
  • Identification of opportunities to benefit existing clients.
  • Management of fixed assets and depreciation schedules.
  • Reconciliation of balance sheet accounts to supporting data.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or relevant field.
  • US Accounting experience required.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and practices, with expertise in financial statement preparation and analysis.
  • Experience with accounting software and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively in a remote team environment.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on delivering accurate and timely work under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to manage multiple client engagements simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.
