Medical Virtual Assistant

Overview of the Role:

A medical virtual assistant is a vital member of the healthcare team who works closely with medical professionals and health insurance companies to ensure seamless communication and coordination.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage inbound and outbound calls from patients, providers, and healthcare insurance companies regarding inquiries, appointments, and data verification
  • Maintain exceptional phone etiquette
  • Navigate through Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) such as Cerner, Epic, AthenaNet/AthenaHealth, and NextGen to obtain accurate patient information
  • Verify healthcare insurance coverage and eligibility for patients
  • Provide administrative support including data entry, appointment scheduling, email management, record management, and time-keeping
  • Assist with health promotion, explanation of care plans, admissions, new patient intake, and front-desk triage
  • Establish professional relationships with medical professionals and patients by acting as a primary liaison between patients and providers
  • Ensure adherence to HIPAA policy at all times
Requirements:
  • Exceptional verbal and written English communication skills
  • 1–2 years of experience in a medical-related field
  • Familiarity with medical terminologies and concepts
  • Healthcare-related degree is highly preferred
  • Intermediate skills with Google Workspace and/or Microsoft Office
  • HIPAA certification is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Impartial and unbiased approach
  • Highly organized and efficient
  • Computer savvy and proficient in using technology
  • Open to working flexible hours, including night shifts
