Social Media Content Creator Job Description

We are seeking a creative and digitally savvy Social Media Content Creator to produce engaging, news-focused short-form videos and written content across various platforms.

The ideal candidate is passionate about current affairs, understands social media trends, and knows how to craft stories that spark conversations and connect with online communities.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Produce social-first news content across TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube, including short news recaps, stitched videos, explainers, fact-checks, and commentary.
  • Research trending topics and conduct fact-checking to ensure accuracy and credibility.
  • Frame compelling angles for news stories, scripting and creating a narrative flow that resonates with audiences.
  • Write engaging captions, headlines, and hooks optimized for different platforms.
  • Stay updated on social media trends and viral content formats to ensure content remains relevant and competitive.
  • Transform editorial articles into concise, engaging video content tailored to each platform's best practices.
  • Monitor video performance metrics to refine content strategy and improve engagement.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Diploma/Degree in Mass Communications, Journalism, Media Studies, or related field preferred.
  • Prior experience in content creation, social media management, or digital journalism is an advantage.
  • Familiar with social media platforms, their audiences, and content trends (TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, Facebook).
  • Proficiency in video editing and design software (Capcut, Canva, or equivalent)
  • Ability to research and analyse news and factual information, with strong skills in fact-checking and distilling insights into clear, audience-friendly stories.
  • Comfortable crafting concise, impactful narratives that bring news and facts to life in social-first video formats.
  • Keen sense of storytelling, pacing, and visual composition with interest in current affairs, news, and social issues.
  • Creative thinker with a strong sense of what resonates with digital audiences.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
