Job Description – Residential Estimator

The Australian Outsource Desk Inc. is seeking a skilled and experienced Residential Estimator to join our team. As a key member of our construction team, the successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for residential construction projects in Australia.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and interpret architectural plans, specifications, and project scope to ensure accurate cost estimation.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for residential construction projects, including materials, labor, and overhead expenses.
  • Utilize estimating software such as Bluebeam, Buildxact, Planswift, or similar tools for quantity take-offs and cost calculations.
  • SOURCE AND NEGOTIATE PRICING WITH AUSTRALIAN SUPPLIERS AND SUBCONTRACTORS.
  • Ensure all estimates comply with Australian building codes, industry standards, and local council regulations.
  • Identify project risks and provide cost-effective solutions to minimize delays and additional costs.
  • Maintain a database of costs, pricing trends, and supplier rates for future reference.
  • Collaborate with project managers, site supervisors, and clients to ensure cost alignment and budget adherence.
  • Assist in tender preparation and contract negotiations.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Mandatory: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a Residential Estimator in Australia.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field (preferred but not required).
  • Strong knowledge of Australian residential construction methods, materials, and cost structures.
  • Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, Planswift, Buildxact).
  • Understanding of Australian building codes, compliance requirements, and council regulations.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills with a high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical documents.
  • Excellent communication skills for liaising with suppliers, subcontractors, and project teams.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple estimates, and meet deadlines.
