Job Description – Residential Estimator (Australian Experience Preferred)

The Residential Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for residential construction projects in Australia. This role requires expertise in interpreting architectural plans, calculating material and labor costs, and liaising with suppliers and subcontractors. The ideal candidate will have experience with Australian building codes, regulations, and construction methods.

Key Responsibilities:
Analyze and interpret architectural plans, specifications, and project scope.
Prepare accurate cost estimates for residential construction projects, including materials, labor, and overhead expenses.
Utilize estimating software such as Bluebeam, Buildxact, Planswift, or similar tools for quantity take-offs and cost calculations.
Source and negotiate pricing with Australian suppliers and subcontractors.
Ensure all estimates comply with Australian building codes, industry standards, and local council regulations.
Identify project risks and provide cost-effective solutions.
Maintain a database of costs, pricing trends, and supplier rates for future reference.
Collaborate with project managers, site supervisors, and clients to ensure cost alignment and budget adherence.
Assist in tender preparation and contract negotiations.

Qualifications & Experience:
Mandatory: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a Residential Estimator in Australia.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field (preferred but not required).
Strong knowledge of Australian residential construction methods, materials, and cost structures.
Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, Planswift, Buildxact).
Understanding of Australian building codes, compliance requirements, and council regulations.
Strong analytical and numerical skills with a high level of accuracy.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical documents.
Excellent communication skills for liaising with suppliers, subcontractors, and project teams.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple estimates, and meet deadlines.
