Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced bookkeeper to join our finance team.

This role is critical in ensuring accurate financial transactions and compliance with Australian accounting standards, including GST and BAS requirements.

The ideal candidate will be confident working with Xero and reconciling payments from platforms such as EasyDebit and Stripe.

This is a remote position with flexible working hours, ideally scheduled within client business hours of 9 AM to 5 PM Sydney time.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage accounts payable, including invoice receipt, coding, and submission for processing.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and ensure accurate transaction coding in Xero.
  • Reconcile batch payments from clients via payment gateways like EasyDebit, Stripe, and Square.
  • Monitor accounts receivable and payable, ensuring timely payment processing.
  • Post month-end general journals (e.g., accruals, prepayments, stock adjustments) as required by the Finance Manager.
  • Maintain the fixed asset register in Xero.
  • Prepare and submit Business Activity Statements (BAS) and ensure GST regulations compliance.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support accurate financial reporting.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies in financial records and systems.
Requirements
  • 2–3 years of bookkeeping experience, preferably in an Australian business environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Xero.
  • Experience reconciling transactions from EasyDebit, Stripe, or similar payment gateways.
  • Solid understanding of Australian GST, BAS, and accounting compliance.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent time management and organizational abilities.
  • Clear and professional communication skills (written and verbal).
