We are seeking a highly skilled DevOps Observability Engineer to join our team. As a key member of the Observability team, you will integrate OpenTelemetry into software applications and help build and maintain an Observability Platform as part of DevOps Tooling and Capabilities.

Job Summary:
  • This is a critical role that requires expertise in integrating OpenTelemetry into software applications and building/maintaining an Observability Platform.

About the Role:

As a Senior DevOps Observability Engineer, you will work closely with the Observability and DevOps teams to design/build/deploy and maintain an Observability solution that aligns with IT strategy/vision and strategic DevOps practices.

  • You will collaborate across application teams to integrate the Observability solution into delivery pipelines and application codebase.
  • You will communicate with governance streams to ensure adherence to process, quality, and architectural design.
  • You will deliver against both Functional and Non-functional requirements.
  • You will take ownership/accountability for development of key features and drive to completion.
  • You will communicate effectively on progress and ensure impediments are raised early to minimize impact on delivery.
  • You will participate in incident management to rectify Production defects based on criticality and severity.
  • You will guide and support team in implementation and adherence to Change Control principles.
  • You will ensure inter-project dependencies and project risks are understood and managed.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you must have:

Essential Skills and Qualifications:
  • Understanding of Observability pillars and knowledge of tools like Grafana, Prometheus, OpenSearch, and CloudWatch.
  • Hands-on experience in deploying and managing AWS resources.
  • Demonstrate current experience of hands-on Full-Stack Software Engineering using Java or Microsoft c#, Typescript, JavaScript, and scripting languages like Python and PowerShell.
  • Experience of Application Lifecycle Management Tools and technologies such as Source Code Management (git), DevOps platforms (Gitlab, TeamCity, Sonatype Nexus).
  • Experience of monitoring application as well as infrastructure in non-production and production systems.
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
  • Experience of using enterprise-level Monitoring tools.
  • OpenTelemetry instrumentation and use of OTEL solutions.
  • APM Experience - AppDynamics DataDog Dynatrace.
  • AWS OpenSearchElastic, and ingestion tooling Crbl.
  • Grafana & Prometheus.
  • Knowledge and use of Cloud Technologies and concepts preferably on AWS or Azure/GCP etc.
  • Experience of utilising Dev(Sec)Ops to automate and minimise delivery times from Development to Production e.g. utilising CICD.
  • Use of and working with Containerization to aid deployability, testing, and loose coupling.
  • Agile exponent to speed up delivery, reduce risk, and provide maximum value to end users.
  • Knowledge of the Broking Trading business domain.
  • Knowledge or application of the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).
