Senior Data Engineering Director

About the Role

We are seeking an accomplished Senior Data Engineering Director to spearhead the development and optimization of our large-scale data pipelines, architecture, and platforms. As a key member of our analytics team, you will be responsible for overseeing the execution of data engineering initiatives, ensuring alignment with our software development lifecycle, IT governance, and business priorities.

Your Key Responsibilities

  1. Lead the design, development, and implementation of cutting-edge data solutions that drive business growth and inform strategic decision-making.
  2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize data requirements, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems and architectures.
  3. Define and enforce data engineering standards across the organization, encompassing quality, integration, security, performance, and governance.
  4. Provide strong leadership, mentoring, and career development for delivery managers, architects, and engineering leads, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
  5. Manage vendor relationships, ensuring service quality, risk mitigation, and cost-effectiveness.
  6. Conduct regular performance reviews, build team competencies, and drive continuous improvement.

Requirements

  1. 10+ years of experience in data engineering and leadership roles, with a proven track record of success in driving business outcomes.
  2. Leadership & Collaboration: Proven ability to lead high-performing teams and coordinate across business and tech functions.
  3. Technical Expertise: Advanced knowledge of Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, Databricks, and API-based data integration.
  4. Architecture & Design: Deep understanding of data architecture, ETL frameworks, cloud-based data solutions, and scalable pipeline design.
  5. Strategy & Governance: Strong foundation in setting enterprise data engineering strategies, DevOps practices, and compliance standards.
  6. Analytical Thinking: Strong problem-solving capabilities, decision-making skills, and adaptability in a dynamic environment.
  7. Project & Vendor Management: Experience managing multiple initiatives and external partners simultaneously.
