Job Overview

We seek a highly skilled professional to join our team as a Quality Assurance Specialist. This role is responsible for ensuring food safety, regulatory compliance, and process improvement in meat operations.

Your Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement all food safety-related strategies, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain open communication with cross-functional departments to address food safety hazards and process improvement opportunities.
  • Implement the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) Plan and prerequisite programs.
  • Conduct regular HACCP monitoring, including chlorinated water solution concentration, temperature, environmental monitoring, metal detection, and sanitation program.
  • Establish a document management system for collecting, maintaining, and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), policies, and templates for all food safety-related records.
  • Investigate customer complaints related to quality, monitor complaint resolution, and initiate the Root Cause Investigation (RCI) process.
  • Perform product traceability for complaints and/or recall processes, ensuring timely communication, execution, and documentation.
  • Conduct microbiological and physical-chemical tests of raw materials, finished products, and environmental samples using rapid and conventional methods.
  • Escalate deviations from quality and operational processes.
  • Ensure Good Laboratory Practices and Quality Assurance Systems are implemented at all times.
  • Ensure proper implementation of meat product hold and release programs, with no product released without approval and documentation.
  • Conduct Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) inspections of production and personnel, including truck and truck personnel.
  • Monitor and inspect pre-dispatch and dispatch items for delivery.
  • Assist in customer and National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS) audits, customer complaint resolutions, and take prompt action.
  • Promote strong relationships with customers and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Operations teams to ensure compliance with food safety regulatory requirements (5S/GMP, HACCP, ISO).
  • Monitor key team members' adherence to food safety and quality assurance activities.
  • Lead the Quality Assurance team during assigned shifts and sections, addressing quality and process issues, and making immediate decisions/actions.
  • Inspect goods and receive processes under the SAP-Quality Assurance module.
  • Comply with quality, health, and food safety policy, standards, and regulations.
  • Report problems related to regulatory, food safety, and quality management systems to the immediate supervisor and/or authorities.
  • Participate actively in company programs and activities under quality improvement, safety & security, sustainability, corporate social responsibility, and risk management.
About You:
  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Animal Science, Biological Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a similar field.
  • At least 6 months to one year of experience in Food Manufacturing, Food Service Operations, Quality Assurance Control, or a related discipline.
  • SAP (QA Module) experience is an asset.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Able to understand and interpret testing results.
  • Able to develop new testing procedures and create written procedures and logs.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication, and organizational skills.
  • Computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet.
  • Mathematical skills: Algebra, Statistics.
