The Senior Buyer will review routine to complex proposals, negotiate prices within an established range, recommend suppliers, review trends, follow-up on orders placed, verify delivery, approve payment, and maintain necessary records to ensure purchase at the right quantity, quality, price, and source. Key responsibilities include contacting vendors/suppliers to establish specifications, scheduling, and negotiating pricing, ensuring cost-effectiveness and product availability. They also evaluate vendors considering service levels and best pricing, recommending changes in manufacturers when issues arise.

  • Key tasks involve purchasing products within predetermined ranges, obtaining manager approval for purchases over limit or with long lead times, and maintaining purchase order logs noting cost increases and reductions.
  • They are responsible for initiating and assisting in studies, testing, and launching new or improved products/projects by recommending alternative options.
  • Maintaining current stock levels of regular items is essential, keeping inventory levels within safety stock and target quantity levels.
