The Assistant Manager/Manager – Accounting plays a crucial role in supervising the overall engagement process, ensuring effective and efficient execution, client satisfaction, and developing high-performance staff.

Engagement Management
  1. Plan and schedule work to be done on engagements, including estimated time budgets and staffing requirements.
  2. Lead engagement planning and risk assessment meetings.
  3. Review engagement plans in coordination with the Partner and/or Director.
  4. Coordinate and lead kick-off meetings with clients.
  5. Show technical knowledge in and practical application of accounting systems.
  6. Ensure proper and efficient execution of engagement plans in accordance with company quality standards.
  7. Monitor time charges against budget and identify reasons for overruns.
  8. Maintain clear coordination of engagement requirements and activities among team members and client personnel.
  9. Keep clients informed of issues relevant to engagements.
  10. Resolve internal and external issues related to the engagement team and clients.
Relationship Management
  1. Promote the image of Grant Thornton Philippines as a provider of high-quality services through good customer relations and responsiveness to clients' needs.
  2. Establish and maintain a clear coordination and good working relationship with client personnel, peers, subordinates, and other associates within and outside the company.
  3. Build rapport and maintain good social relationships through regular meetings and teleconferences.
  4. Keep clients aware of significant developments in accounting, tax, government regulations, and other areas affecting their businesses.
  5. Be available at all times or while the engagement is ongoing for queries and requests by clients, Partner and/or Director.
  6. Provide immediate assistance and advice for professional needs of clients and consult the Partner and/or Director whether such assistance or advice are under the company's competencies and whether the client is to be billed.
  7. Work harmoniously and effectively with other members of the team.
  8. Actively participate in official company activities such as strategic planning and team-building sessions, quarterly socials, and outings.
  9. Maintain a 'can-do' and positive attitude at all times in accepting assignments and working with any other P&A personnel.
People Management
  1. Provide on-the-job training to staff during the course of every engagement.
  2. Be a good role model and provide motivation and guidance to staff for them to attain their full potential as professionals.
  3. Provide timely feedback to staff about their job performance.
  4. Participate in annual performance review process through deliberations on the overall performance of staff.
  5. Be available for mentoring and coaching activities.
  6. Participate in staff recruitment through the conduct of interviews and examinations.
