Senior Agronomist

Syngenta Seeds aims to develop high-quality seeds that improve crop yields and ensure better productivity. Our advanced seeds help mitigate risks such as disease and drought, allowing farmers to grow food using less land, water, and inputs.

We are looking for a highly experienced Agronomist to oversee R&D site operations, aligning with regional and global strategies across Finance, HSE, Quality, HR, PPP, and key commercial functions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in plant breeding, data analytics, and precision phenotyping.

  • Lead R&D Operations: Oversee the entire R&D process, from breeding to seed production, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations.
  • Develop High-Performance Teams: Build and manage a high-performing team of agronomists, scientists, and engineers to support research activities and operational tasks.
  • Implement Operational Excellence: Continuously optimize breeding operations and trialing processes, fostering a culture of innovation to maximize efficiency and minimize unit costs.
  • Maintain Relationships: Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including farmers, suppliers, and regulatory bodies.

Responsibilities:

  • Site Management: Oversee all aspects of R&D site operations, including financial management, human resources, and administrative tasks.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with R&D operations, ensuring the safety and well-being of employees and the environment.
  • Innovation: Drive innovation in R&D operations, exploring new technologies and methods to improve efficiency and reduce costs.

Requirements:

  • Education: Ph.D. or Master's degree in Agronomy, Plant Breeding, Genetics, or a related field.
  • Experience: 15+ years of experience in R&D operations, preferably in a global agricultural company.
  • Skills: Strong understanding of molecular breeding, data analytics, and precision phenotyping, as well as project management and process improvement tools.
