Cloud Security Expert

The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and operating a comprehensive information security strategy and program that addresses cloud environments. This includes creating policies, standards, and procedures, as well as utilizing risk-based methodologies to anticipate threats and identify potential impact.

The Cloud Security Expert serves as the key representative regarding cloud security strategy and execution of the cloud security roadmap. The position requires duties such as:

  • Adopting a cloud-first approach to security with a deep understanding of best practices.
  • Developing and implementing a risk management program for security and privacy-related areas, including threat modeling, risk identification, vulnerability assessment, and mitigation planning.
  • Providing strategic and tactical security guidance for programs and projects involving security controls, including enterprise architecture evaluation, hardware and software assessments, and technical control evaluations.
  • Collaborating with the IT Leadership team and direct reports to ensure alignment between strategic plans, security programs, and technical controls with respective business strategies and compliance with policies, laws, and regulations.
  • Coordinating the use of external resources for Cloud Information Security program development, implementation, and monitoring, including penetration testing.
  • Establishing a metrics-driven dashboard to evaluate the effectiveness of the Cloud Information Security program.
  • Acting as a key thought leader in Cloud Information Security, working with partners and vendors to develop thought leadership around policies, processes, and capabilities enhancing the Cloud Security Strategy.
  • Maintaining knowledge of new technologies and application methodologies through publications, professional organization membership, and contact with other IT organizations and institutions.

The ideal candidate should possess:

  • At least 5 years of experience in the information technology field or similar.
  • Experience with multiple cloud environments, including AWS.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to project and control cloud spend.
  • Detail-oriented and strong documentation skills.

Technical responsibilities and qualifications include securing communications, applications, and business systems; performing cloud risk assessments; overseeing policy and procedure drafting for secure daily cloud operations; planning, testing, and managing disaster recovery and security breaches; understanding governance and compliance; and incident management and investigation.

Desirable certifications include CISSP, CISA, and AWS Certified Security – Specialty (CSC-C02).

This is a mid-senior level full-time position in the Information Technology sector.
