Data Engineer Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to build and maintain our data pipeline, optimize data flow and collection for cross-functional components. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience in a Data Engineer role and possesses expertise in big data tools, relational SQL and NoSQL databases, data pipeline and workflow management tools, AWS cloud services, stream-processing systems, and object-oriented/object function scripting languages such as Python.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Create and maintain optimal data architecture
  • Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional/non-functional business requirements
  • Identify and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability
  • Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a variety of data sources using SQL and AWS 'big data' technologies
  • Build analytics tools that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into customer acquisition, operational efficiency, and other key business performance metrics

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Advanced working knowledge of SQL and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL), and familiarity with various databases
  • Experience building and optimizing 'big data' data pipelines, architectures, and data sets
  • Strong analytical skills related to working with unstructured datasets
  • Working knowledge of message queuing, stream processing, and highly scalable 'big data' data stores
