About the Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Environmental Specialist (Biodiversity) to join our team. The successful candidate will provide expert advice on safeguard policy issues, undertake environmental due diligence, and ensure compliance with ADB's safeguard procedures during project preparation and implementation.

About the Office of Safeguards

The Office of Safeguards is responsible for ensuring that ADB-financed projects are environmentally and socially sustainable. Our team works closely with operations departments, borrower clients, and other stakeholders to identify and mitigate potential environmental risks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safeguard Policy Compliance Due Diligence and Monitoring: Review ADB financed program and projects to advise on safeguard policy requirements, support operations departments to identify necessary mitigation measures, and conduct safeguard review missions as requested.
  • Capacity Building: Develop and administer biodiversity-related technical assistance programs for ADB developing member countries and private sector clients, and provide training and capacity-building programs to enhance environmental knowledge and skills.
  • Project Development: Contribute to the development of projects with specific safeguards or environment focus, providing technical expertise and guidance to project teams, and advising on the design and implementation of environmental management plans.
