Medical Underwriting Assistant Role

We are seeking an experienced Medical Underwriter to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing strategic direction for underwriting portfolios and ensuring growth and profitability.

The ideal candidate will have a strong analytical mind and excellent communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to develop their career in insurance underwriting. As a Medical Underwriting Assistant, you will be responsible for:

  • Actively managing renewal portfolios and new business targets;
  • Monitoring, reviewing and complying with all underwriting standards, procedures and processes;
  • Providing timely and professional service to customers and intermediaries;
  • Developing and improving knowledge of current legislation, best practice, underwriting, systems, products and organisational guidelines;
  • Managing portfolios and relationships with colleagues to achieve retention, growth and profitability targets;
  • Delivering timely decisions and problem-solving solutions for customers and intermediaries;
  • Building relationships with internal stakeholders;
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Moderate experience in insurance sales or underwriting;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Tertiary degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience;
