The Assistant Store Manager is responsible for leading a specialty retail team to achieve sales and profit goals. This role serves as the second in charge of operations, reporting directly to the Store Manager.
This position requires delivering exceptional customer experiences, providing leadership and direction to the store team, and performing operational activities throughout the store. The Assistant Manager must promote a safe and productive work environment for all Team Members, customers, and vendors, while training Team Members on policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:- Maintain regular attendance and be available to work varied hours, days, nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.
- Uphold and promote a safe and productive work environment by following company policies and procedures.
- Deliver exceptional customer service through GURA: greet, uncover needs, recommend solutions, ask to add value, and appreciate the customer.
- Perform opening and closing procedures, including receiving and processing merchandise, managing cash handling, and operating equipment such as forklifts and balers.
- Resolve customer complaints and issues, ensuring a positive shopping experience.
- Lead freight movement, support merchandising initiatives, feed management, and inventory control.
- Operate cash registers, computers, and other store equipment efficiently and accurately.
Previous retail leadership experience is required. Farming, ranching, pet/equine, or welding knowledge is strongly preferred. Must be 18 years of age or older and possess a valid driver's license.
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field is preferred. The ability to read, write, and count accurately is essential.
Preferred Qualifications:- Ability to perform and execute principle responsibilities of Team Members.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to resolve issues ethically and with minimal conflict.
The working environment is favorable, generally working inside with moderate noise. Indoor floors and outdoor lots are hard surfaces (concrete, asphalt, etc.). Lighting and temperature are adequate. Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions.
Work shifts vary from one store to another, but generally are no less than 4 hours and may exceed 8 hours. Promote a safe and productive work environment for Team Members and customers and adhere to Company safety training and guidelines.
Physical Requirements:- This position is non-sedentary.
- Ability to move and transfer merchandise, weighing up to 50 pounds, throughout the store.
- Ability to push and pull merchandise up to 2,000 pounds with assistance.
- Ability to stand, kneel, twist, crouch, squat, bend, stoop, and climb ladders for up to 12 hours.
- Ability to operate and use all equipment necessary to run a store.
- Ability to read, write, and count accurately to complete all documentation.
