About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our team. As a Senior Accountant, you will oversee and manage the financial operations of multiple startup clients, ensuring precision and compliance with accounting standards and regulations. Your responsibilities will include preparing financial statements, maintaining general ledgers, managing accounts payable and receivable, and supporting the monthly closing process. Your analytical prowess and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment will be crucial in providing valuable financial insights to our clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Reconcile accounts, process journal entries, and synchronize approved and reimbursed reports using QBO.
  • Develop accurate and comprehensive financial reports for management and stakeholders.
  • Preserve the integrity of the general ledger by recording, reconciling, and analyzing transactions.
  • Examine financial data and summarize financial performance.
  • Track, analyze, and report on key financial metrics, trends, and variances.
  • Collaborate in the creation of annual budgets and financial forecasts.

Additional Responsibilities (approximately 10% of the time)

  • Perform assigned tasks as needed to meet client demands.
  • Collaborate with Controllers to forecast income and expenses.
  • Conduct quality assurance checks and peer reviews.

Regulatory Compliance (approximately 5% of the time)

  • Stay current with bookkeeping, tax filing, HR standards, and other relevant government regulations.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local laws by maintaining regulatory documentation for each client.
  • Evaluate internal controls, including risk assessments and reviews of risk areas.

Administrative Tasks (approximately 5% of the time)

  • Initiate, approve, and monitor maintenance projects.
  • Track billable hours across various clients.

Other Responsibilities (approximately 5% of the time)

  • Attend required training sessions and internal meetings.

Please note that we also require candidates to possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
  • Minimum 3 years of corporate accounting experience.
  • Previous experience working remotely for a U.S.-based accounting firm.
  • Proficiency in finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting, and cost control principles.
  • Advanced knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting best practices, U.S. GAAP, laws, standards, and state/national regulations.
  • Familiarity with QuickBooks Online (certification a plus).
  • Expertise in spreadsheet software (MS Excel and Google Sheets).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Diligence with meticulous attention to detail and the ability to handle a high volume of complex tasks.
  • Capacity to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment with diverse tasks.
