Job Opportunity: Software Platform Engineering Leader

This is a globally remote role, where we are seeking experienced engineering managers who possess passion for operational systems, open source technologies and cutting-edge hardware to lead engineering teams in optimizing Ubuntu for the latest x86, ARM, RISC-V, s390x and POWER platforms.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in leading software engineering teams, overseeing commercial engagements, and implementing disciplined engineering processes. Additionally, they will contribute to code reviews, technical documentation, and optimize Ubuntu for latest hardware platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a team of engineers ranging from graduate to senior level
  • Oversee commercial engagements and ensure timely delivery on agreed project milestones
  • Participate as technical lead on complex customer engagements involving complete system architectures
  • Implement disciplined engineering processes
  • Integrate and maintain platform-oriented software stacks
  • Optimize Ubuntu for latest hardware platforms
  • Display technical leadership internally and within external communities
  • Contribute to code reviews and technical documentation

Requirements:

  • Exceptional academic track record from both high school and university
  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or STEM field, or a compelling narrative about alternative path
  • Fluency in C, C++, and Python programming languages
  • Experience with Linux and operational systems software (e.g. kernel or user space)
  • Experience with Debian/Ubuntu or other distro packaging
  • Experience leading software engineering teams
  • Professional written and spoken English language skills
  • Ability to confidently communicate ideas, provide feedback, and exchange suggestions without hesitation
