A global development correspondent is a critical role that requires a reporter to cover the inside story of the industry. This involves staying up-to-date on big new projects and initiatives, leadership transitions, layoffs, mergers, and fundraising innovations.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in global development or a passion for global issues and learning more about the aid industry. They will contribute with hunger and hustle to get inside global development, covering a beat, exploring decisions and the leaders who make them across INGO, social enterprise, government agency, or philanthropic foundation contexts.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Write exclusive stories, quick-hit news pieces, long-form features, and newsletters that are part of our email products.
  • Present ideas at weekly editorial meetings, brief other Devex reporters on key issues when needed, and contribute to panels and webinars.

Key Qualifications:

  • Experience as a beat reporter.
  • A proven track record of breaking stories and delivering original reporting. A strong passion for global development, with the curiosity to dig into how the industry works.
  • A network of contacts — or the drive to build one quickly.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to engage directly with readers.
  • Native level of English with excellent written English.
  • A bachelor's degree.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Familiarity with business and finance reporting.
  • Experience working at a well-respected media organization.
  • Comfortable moderating panels and webinars.
