Job Summary:

The role of Senior Tax Accountant involves providing support to the business and overseeing various tasks, including financial statement preparation, tax return submission, and general ledger maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare financial statements for lodgement with the Australian Taxation Office up to trial balance stage.
  • Prepare Business Activity Statements and Installment Activity Statements for lodgement with the Australian Taxation Office.
  • Maintain the general ledger by transferring subsidiary accounts, preparing a trial balance, and reconciling entries.
  • Prepare private tax returns, trust, partnership tax returns, and End-of-year compliance jobs.
  • Familiarity with Division 7a loans is essential.
  • Complete required tax reporting in a timely manner.
  • Develop and update tax provision schedules.
  • Analyse and correct process errors that caused incorrect tax filings and negotiate with tax authorities over tax payment issues.
  • Provide guidance and review work for the existing Junior Accountant.
  • Lead the team as a senior member, mentoring and reviewing work for team members, and reporting work to the Accountant Managers.

Requirements:

  • A graduate degree in Accountancy or Accounting Technology; having a CPA license is advantageous.
  • At least 4 years of experience in accounting and tax, with a minimum of 4 years in AU tax accounting.
  • Strong leadership capabilities and interest in leading the team.
  • Advantageous if experienced in an accounting/audit firm.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detailed and organised approach.
  • Effective time management skills.
