Medical Biller Job Overview

As a Medical Biller, your key responsibility will be to accurately process and post medical charges, payments, and journal entries to patient accounts in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Verify correct insurance filing information on behalf of the client and patient.
  • Prepare, review, and transmit claims using billing software, including electronic and paper claim processing.
  • Follow up on unpaid claims within the standard billing cycle time frame.
  • Research and appeal denied claims.
  • Meet individual and departmental standards with regard to quality and productivity.
Additional Tasks:
  • Able to perform eligibility verification and precertification through the web or verbally with insurance companies.
  • Call insurance companies and obtain claim status with different payers and document it in the system.
  • Read superbills and make charge entry in the Practice Management System (PMS).
  • Post Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA) and Explanation of Benefits (EOB) from various systems and websites.
