Job Title: Tax Accountant

We are seeking an experienced team member to join our growing accounting firm in Australia. As a tax accountant, you will be responsible for preparing financial statements, tax returns, and BAS/IAS accurately and in line with Australian compliance requirements.

Responsibilities:
  • Preparation of financial statements, tax returns, BAS/IAS.
  • Supporting accountants and bookkeepers with day-to-day client needs.
  • Performing administrative tasks to ensure timely lodgments.
  • Maintaining accuracy and attention to detail under tight deadlines.
  • Daily timesheet entry.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in an Australian accounting firm.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian tax compliance.
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills.
  • Ability to work independently while meeting deadlines.
Nice-to-haves:
  • Experience with Xero add-ons (Xero Practice Manager, Ignition, FYI).
  • Exposure to SMSF compliance.
Key Skills:
  • Accuracy in preparing financial statements, tax returns, BAS/IAS.
  • Strong working knowledge of Xero and cloud-based accounting systems.
  • Effective communication skills to liaise with accountants, bookkeepers, and clients.
  • Time management & deadline focus, especially with ATO lodgments.
  • Adaptability & willingness to learn.
  • Confidentiality & integrity in handling sensitive financial data.
  • High level of accuracy when entering data, reconciling accounts, and preparing reports.
  • Ability to spot errors, inconsistencies, or potential issues and resolve them proactively.
