Medical Office Customer Service Representative

We are seeking a highly skilled professional to join our team in providing exceptional customer service to patients over the phone, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance coverage, and maintaining accurate patient records within Athena EHR.
This role involves working with patients to address their needs, coordinate preventive visits, chronic disease management appointments, and same-day sick visits.
Key Responsibilities:- Greet callers in a professional, courteous manner and address patient needs promptly
- Schedule primary care appointments including annual exams, chronic care followups, acute visits, and preventive screenings
- Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility, including co-pays, deductibles, and network status
- Maintain and update patient records accurately in Athena EHR
- Assist with patient portal setup and troubleshooting
- Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure smooth patient flow and timely care delivery
- Respond to patient inquiries regarding test results, referrals, and follow-up instructions in alignment with practice policies
The ideal candidate will possess:
- 2+ years of experience in a medical office setting, preferably in family medicine or internal medicine
- Proficiency in Athena EHR, including scheduling, documentation, and patient communication features
- Strong knowledge of primary care visit types, referral processes, and insurance requirements
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
