Job Opportunity: Database Administration

We're seeking a highly skilled database administrator to join our team. As a key member of our technical staff, you will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing MySQL databases while supporting MS SQL Server operations.

Responsibilities
  • Administer and maintain MySQL databases with a strong focus on performance tuning, optimization, and maintenance.
  • Support MS SQL Server administration, including regular maintenance, backup management, and performance monitoring.
  • Set up proactive monitoring and alerts using Zabbix or other monitoring tools to ensure database health.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize slow-running or problematic database queries.
  • Resolve transaction-related issues such as deadlocks, hung transactions, and locking problems.
  • Design, implement, and test robust backup and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Collaborate with technical colleagues to resolve database-related challenges efficiently.
Requirements
  • At least 3 years of hands-on MySQL administration experience.
  • MS SQL Server administration background.
  • Strong knowledge of storage engines (InnoDB vs MyISAM).
  • Proven expertise in query optimization and troubleshooting performance issues.
  • Experience with deadlock resolution and transaction management.
  • Backup/restore strategy implementation experience.
  • Familiarity with Zabbix monitoring or similar tools.
  • Clear communication skills to explain technical issues to non-specialists.
  • Honest, proactive, and efficient approach to problem-solving.
