Purchasing Manager Role

This key position is responsible for overseeing the daily activities of the procurement team.

  • The ideal candidate will have experience in managing indirect and direct buying activities, including low-level sourcing and PO placement.
  • A strong understanding of data management and process improvement methodologies is essential.
  • The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and be able to motivate a team to achieve business goals.
About the Job

As a Purchasing Manager, you will lead the procurement team in achieving operational excellence by developing and implementing performance metrics and SSC objectives tailored to each business area.

  • Operational Efficiency
    • Ensure that POs are completed within agreed service levels and aligned with policies, SOPs, and SWIs across procurement categories.
    • Prepare metrics reports and collaborate with customers (monthly or as needed) to address operational issues and performance.
    • Timely resolution of issues and perform gap analysis based on performance measures and KPI dashboards.
  • Process Improvement
    • Recognize and eliminate operational barriers by developing innovative solutions and driving continuous improvement through regular process reviews.
    • Identify areas for process improvement and lead the implementation of enhancements.
    • Develop, update, and review documentation and standard operating procedures within your area.
    • Implement BPE initiatives and ensure team compliance with standard processes and preferred tools.
  • Leadership and People Management
    • Guide, coach, and develop direct reports to enhance productivity, performance, and cost-efficiency.
    • Allocate and balance workloads effectively across your team.
    • Develop team members by providing regular coaching and performance feedback.
    • Act promptly and decisively on performance issues.
Requirements
  • You must have a Bachelor's degree or higher in a business or technical-related field.
  • You should have 7-8 years of experience in procurement, including evaluating bids and accurately translating and processing customer requests.
  • You must have strong verbal and written communication skills in English and potentially a second language based on team assignment.
  • You should have negotiation experience, international logistics knowledge, and experience managing suppliers using foreign Incoterms.
  • You should be familiar with working in multinational companies and understand the dynamics of a global business environment.
  • You follow established procedures and sequential processes with precision and consistency.
  • You apply critical thinking to analyze and review orders and identify opportunities for process efficiency.
  • You work well in a team environment and possess strong interpersonal skills.
  • You take initiative and can work independently with minimal supervision.
  • You are diligent in ensuring deadlines are met and priorities are managed effectively.
  • You have knowledge of foreign trade, free trade agreements, relevant regulations, tariff and non-tariff restrictions, transportation, and INCOTERMS.
  • You possess strong leadership skills, with experience in people development and proven ability to lead, motivate, and train team members.
  • You are detail-oriented, with excellent planning, workflow management, and organizational skills.
  • You manage multiple priorities effectively, meet deadlines, and are familiar with project management tools and methodologies.
  • You build strong interpersonal relationships and collaborate effectively in an intercultural environment.
