Job Title

We are seeking an experienced Backend Engineering Lead to spearhead the development of our backend systems and APIs. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in software engineering principles, with expertise in designing, developing, and maintaining robust backend systems.

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless API integrations, reliable infrastructure, and efficient workflows that support innovative software solutions.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance backend systems and APIs.
  • Develop and manage public-facing APIs, ensuring secure, reliable, and efficient access.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support continuous integration and deployment.
  • Implement observability practices using tools such as Datadog, New Relic, or similar.
  • Collaborate with frontend developers, product teams, and stakeholders to align backend architecture with product needs.
  • Work with PostgreSQL and PostGIS for advanced SQL and geospatial data management.
  • Develop and deploy solutions within AWS environments (API Gateway, Lambda, Serverless Stack).
  • Support microservices-based architectures and event-driven workflows (e.g., webhooks).
  • Evaluate and improve system performance and reliability.
Requirements
  • 7 years of backend software development experience, including building public-facing API products.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, with expertise in frameworks such as Flask or FastAPI.
  • Highly proficient in SQL and PostgreSQL, with experience in geospatial extensions such as PostGIS.
  • Solid understanding of full-stack technologies required to build and run APIs.
  • Skilled in RESTful API design and management, ensuring scalability and performance.
  • Hands-on experience working with AWS services, including API Gateway, Lambda, and the Serverless Stack.
  • Familiar with microservices architecture and event-driven technologies such as webhooks.
  • Experience integrating spatial mapping libraries like Mapbox or working with GIS concepts relevant to utility networks.
  • Production-level experience with observability tools such as Datadog or New Relic.
  • Strong grasp of CI/CD methodologies and ability to build and maintain pipelines effectively.
  • Experienced in working with agile development methodologies.
Nice to Have
  • Familiarity with geospatial data formats such as GeoJSON, shapefiles, or KMZ.
  • Understanding of telecom or utility network planning and deployment workflows.
  • Experience with frontend frameworks such as React, Vue, or Angular (a plus).
  • Familiarity with Figma or other UI/UX prototyping tools.
