We are seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead our team of talented engineers in the development and maintenance of the Ubuntu Linux kernel.

  • As a Software Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading a distributed team of engineers in the delivery of high-quality software solutions.
  • You will work closely with other teams to ensure seamless integration and alignment across all aspects of the project.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a distributed team of software engineers in the development and maintenance of the Ubuntu Linux kernel.
  • Take ownership of particular aspects of the Ubuntu Linux kernel, including working with silicon or cloud partners to implement optimized kernels, ensuring compatibility with diverse hardware platforms, and defining and executing quality control standards.
  • Engage with other teams, the open-source community, and commercial partners to drive collaboration and innovation.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated experience in managing or leading a team of software engineers.
  • Significant programming experience in C, with Python, Golang, or other like languages highly regarded.
  • Substantial experience with operating system kernel internals and concepts, Linux highly regarded but not essential.
  • Familiarity with version control practices, ideally with git.
  • Prior experience developing with software packaging formats, direct Ubuntu/Debian/Snap experience highly regarded.
  • Professional written and spoken English with excellent presentation skills.
