Remote Medical Records Specialist

This position is responsible for handling medical records requests in a remote setting. The ideal candidate will have experience in medical records, health information management, or related fields and be familiar with HIPAA privacy requirements.
Key Responsibilities:- Record Fulfillment: Receive, validate, and fulfill medical records requests while ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Authorization Validation: Verify the identity and authority of requestors to confirm the scope, purpose, and expiration of authorizations.
- Clinical Clearance: Route requests to treating clinicians and psychiatric providers for review and approval.
- Legal Request Handling: Review subpoenas, court orders, and payer audits to ensure compliance with regulations.
- Record Preparation: Retrieve designated record sets, apply naming conventions, and send records via approved secure methods.
- Experience: 2+ years in medical records, health information management, or related fields.
- Knowledge: Proven knowledge of HIPAA privacy requirements and minimum necessary standards.
- Communication Skills: Strong written communication skills and high accuracy with document handling.
- Attention to Detail: Zero-defect mindset for authorizations, provider clearances, and logs.
- Confidentiality: Exercises sound judgment with sensitive youth/family information.
- Time Management: Handles high email volume and prioritizes by deadlines/risk.
