Job Description:

We are seeking a seasoned professional to join our team as a Senior Backend Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and developing sophisticated backend services that handle the intricacies of payment workflows, including convenience fee processing, split funding architecture, and advanced payment processor relationship management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop automated settlement scheduling systems
  • Implement complex payment flows, including convenience fee handling and recurring payment capabilities
  • Manage relationships and integrations with multiple payment processors, implementing failover and routing logic
  • Develop services for transaction reporting, analytics, and compliance reporting specific to oil and gas industry requirements
  • Build robust integration layers for future ERP system connections
  • Design scalable webhook delivery systems with retry logic, failure handling, and event ordering
  • Implement advanced fraud detection algorithms and risk management systems
  • Optimize database queries and service performance for high-volume transaction processing

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in C#/.NET Core, ASP.NET Web API, background services
  • Advanced SQL Server knowledge, including stored procedures, performance tuning, and indexing strategies
  • Deep understanding of payment processing, ACH networks, and card processing flows
  • Experience with settlement systems, reconciliation processes, and financial reporting
  • Knowledge of message queues, event-driven architecture, webhook systems, and API gateway patterns
  • Understanding of encryption, tokenization, PCI DSS compliance, and secure coding practices
  • Experience with cloud services, including Azure services (Service Bus, Functions, Logic Apps), microservices architecture

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in fintech, banking, or payment processing companies
  • Experience with high-volume financial transaction systems ($10M+ monthly)
  • Understanding of regulatory compliance requirements (PCI DSS, SOX, financial regulations)
  • Experience with real-time payment systems and instant settlement
  • Knowledge of advanced fraud detection and machine learning applications
  • Familiarity with financial data standards and reporting requirements
