We are seeking an experienced accounting professional to oversee bookkeeping, payroll, BAS/GST, and project accounting in a construction industry setting.

Responsibilities
  • Manage full-cycle bookkeeping, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, reconciliations, and compliance requirements.
  • Maintain and update financial records with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Oversee payroll processing, superannuation, PAYG, and year-end reconciliations.
  • Allocate and code transactions, ensuring accurate data entry and reporting.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual management reports, including analysis of budgets, costs, and job-related expenses.
  • Support project accounting by monitoring budgets, cost codes, and providing financial advice.
  • Manage supplier and subcontractor accounts, including invoice verification, payment preparation, and reconciliations.
  • Assist with BAS, GST, and tax reporting, ensuring compliance with ATO standards.
  • Prepare audit-ready documentation and liaise with external accountants.
  • Develop and maintain financial procedures and internal controls aligned with industry requirements.
  • Provide financial analysis to support business decisions.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
  • 5+ years' experience in bookkeeping, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of MYOB (preferred) or Xero, including data entry, allocation, payroll, and reconciliations.
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, financial modelling).
  • Proven experience in payroll, superannuation, BAS, GST, and compliance reporting.
  • Good understanding of Australian accounting standards and tax obligations.
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and organisational skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with stakeholders.
