About the Role

The Safety, Health, and Environmental Manager will lead our team in building a proactive SHE management culture. They will ensure effective governance and programs, providing oversight and advisory to align purpose and organizational objectives and goals.

Our ideal candidate is responsible for promoting, creating, and maintaining a safe and healthy workplace to safeguard employee health and safety, ensuring sustainable operations protecting the environment.

Responsibilities
  • Team Management: Manage the SHE Team by monitoring work performance, supporting development, motivating and allocating resources to effectively implement SHE plans and programs.
  • SHE Initiatives: Develop and evaluate SHE initiatives and other SHE competency programs to ensure adequacy, suitability, and effectiveness. Enforce SHE rules and regulations by giving advice and recommendations to management and other teams.
  • SHE Planning: Establish SHE plans and programs in compliance with regulatory requirements and in alignment with organizational goals in collaboration with relevant teams.
  • Guidance and Advisory: Provide guidance and advisory in relation to the implementation of SHE programs, management of Safety, Health, Environment (SHE) Committee, and development of policies and procedures.
  • Compliance and Audits: Review and evaluate SHE programs through audits, verification, and other assessment tools to adapt to changing regulations and company needs, ensure its effectiveness, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with mandated SHE regulatory requirements through regular review, engagement with regulators, and collaboration with other teams in order to complete and/or submit applications and/or compliance plans.
  • Representation: Network and represent the organization to external stakeholders as Safety Officer/Pollution Control Officer and stay updated with changing regulations and industry best practices.
  • CORRECTIVE ACTION: Review recommendations for corrective measures to address occupational health, safety, and environmental issues/concerns.
  • Ongoing Duties: Perform other related duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by his/her immediate superior.
Requirements

We are looking for a highly qualified individual with the following qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field, preferably in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Environmental, or Sanitary Engineering.
  • A Registered Engineer.
  • At least 7 years of experience in Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Has led at least one SHE-related project.
  • Must be able to attain Safety Officer and Pollution Control Officer accreditation within one (1) year of appointment.
