Job Role Overview

This position involves preparing financial and management accounting reports for review by senior team members. With increased practical experience and a stronger theoretical foundation, there is potential for career progression.


Key Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of this role include:

  • Assisting clients in completing financial and management accounting reports for review by senior team members
  • Preparing compliance jobs for the trial balance stage
  • Identifying franking account issues such as franking deficit tax and penalties
  • Reviewing client-prepared BAS/IAS and assisting with amendments/corrections to the system
  • Identifying and resolving basic problems arising in client financial statements
  • Preparing and analysing accounts, income tax returns, company annual returns, Business Activity Statements, Fringe Benefit Tax returns and notices of assessment

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of experience with a Chartered Accounting Firm
  • Experience with Australian accounting, taxation and clients
  • Expertise in preparing financial statements and annual tax returns for multiple clients
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite, including Word, Excel, Access and Outlook
  • Working knowledge of computerised accounting packages, i.e. Xero and MYOB
  • Understanding of tax laws, state taxes and duties relating to resident taxpayers
