Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Finance Expert to join our team. As a key member of our Environment Department, you will play a critical role in formulating and articulating policies and strategies to increase finance for nature-positive investments. Your responsibilities will include advancing the knowledge agenda on environmental finance, providing advice and technical support to operations, and supporting the coordination and implementation of cross-regional cooperation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Advancing the knowledge agenda on environmental finance, including biodiversity, pollution control, and circular economy, and nature-based solutions for sovereign and private sector operations;
  2. Providing advice, expertise, and technical support to operations to utilize innovative financing instruments, such as sustainability-linked instruments, thematic bonds, outcome bonds, carbon credits, and debt-for-nature swaps, to increase nature-positive investments;
  3. Supporting the coordination and implementation of cross-regional cooperation initiatives, partnerships, and networks under the Nature Solutions Finance Hub (NSFH) and responding to different strategic initiatives in ADB, including expanding forest-related initiatives with innovative financing instruments;
  4. Developing knowledge products and disseminating them through training and networks;
  5. Supporting the development of strategies for environmental finance in selected developing member countries in close collaboration with government agencies, the Sectors Group (SG), and Resident Missions (RMs), concerning biodiversity, pollution control, and circular economy, and nature-based solutions;
  6. Proposing, developing, overseeing, supervising, and supporting innovative projects and Technical Assistance (TA) in the environmental finance field, including on forest conservation and restoration, blue carbon, and other natural resources areas;
  7. Supporting the team leader of the Nature Solutions Finance Hub and its operation, including effective technical leadership, management, and timely delivery of related technical assistant projects, knowledge, and capacity-building activities;
  8. Originating, conceptualizing, and supporting the preparation of innovative loan and grant projects in the environmental finance field in close collaboration with ADB's Finance Sector Office (SG-FIN), Agriculture, Food, Nature, and Rural Development Sector Office (SG-AFNR), the Private Sector Operations Department (PSOD), Office of Markets Development and PPP (OMDP), and Southeast Asia Regional Department Green Finance Hub to achieve a
