Medical Scribe Role Overview

We seek a detail-oriented medical scribe to join our team. As a medical scribe, you will accompany the orthopedic spine surgeon during patient visits and document key information.

Your tasks will include:

  • Recording patient history and physical exam findings
  • Documenting imaging reviews (MRI, CT, X-rays)
  • Transcribing diagnoses and treatment plans

You will also be responsible for updating electronic medical records (EMRs), including lab/imaging orders and prescriptions. Additionally, you will draft referral letters, patient education materials, and pre-surgical documents.

A strong understanding of medical terminology related to orthopedics and spine is essential for this role. Experience with EMR platforms, particularly Athena Health, is also preferred.

The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience as a medical scribe for an orthopedic or spine surgery team. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage confidential information are required.

Administrative Support Responsibilities

In addition to your medical scribe duties, you will provide administrative support, including contacting patients to review post-procedure pain logs and updating documentation. You will also verify insurance coverage, generate payment estimates, and explain costs to patients.
