The role of a Primary Law Attorney Editor involves legal research, analysis, and writing to support the development and maintenance of Thomson Reuters' legal information in all media. This position requires working collaboratively with colleagues across the globe to ensure customers have access to accurate, current, and appropriately annotated versions of US and Canadian law.

  • Key responsibilities include:
  • Legal Research, Analysis, Validation, and Writing: Our Attorney Editors create and classify legal information in the form of headnotes, highlights, notes of decision, and other features and enhancements.
  • Editorial Responsibility: Members of this team adhere to editorial publishing schedules and quality standards, verifying their own work and that of other staff for accuracy and completeness.
  • Individual and Leadership Development: As part of a larger team, Attorney Editors participate in meetings and employee evaluation processes, developing knowledge of Thomson Reuters Legal publications and products.

Multiple teams are hiring to fill multiple Attorney Editor roles in our Manila office. Codes Editorial team members maintain and enhance legislative, regulatory, and court rules materials. Cases Editorial team members read and analyze court decisions, classifying points of law for Westlaw and print.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Hold a Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school or equivalent relevant legal training.
  • Be a self-starter with aptitude for legal research, writing, and analysis.
  • Have a keen eye for detail and established proof-reading skills, as well as the ability to prioritize tasks and projects.
  • Be comfortable with personal computers and familiar with word processing and online applications.
  • Be a strong, proactive, and assertive communicator who can speak and write clearly and effectively.
  • Proficient in English and French.
