Supplier Quality Engineer Role

This position is responsible for ensuring continuous quality performance improvements by working closely with suppliers to meet ISO 9001 requirements and company-specific standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as the primary point of contact for assigned suppliers, fostering a collaborative relationship to drive quality enhancements.
  • Monitor and evaluate supplier quality performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Conduct regular scorecard reviews, business reviews, and complaint assessments to ensure suppliers are meeting their obligations.
  • Provide input on sourcing decisions, leveraging quality expertise to inform procurement strategies.
  • Lead or participate in audits at suppliers' facilities, ensuring compliance with established standards and procedures.
  • Manage supplier 8D processes and quality ratings, driving accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Support the internal quality engineering team in complaint handling for assigned suppliers, serving as an escalation point when necessary.
  • Develop and track performance agreements with suppliers, aligning expectations and goals.
  • Promote supplier improvement initiatives, collaborating with cross-functional teams on 6-Sigma lean projects, Kaizen events, and quality improvement plans.
  • Foster a culture of training and development among suppliers, providing technical assistance and coaching to enhance quality capabilities.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in connector and cable assembly quality, with expertise in ISO 9001 and preferred familiarity with IATF 16949, ISO 14000, and other industry standards.
  • Certification as an ISO 9001 auditor from a recognized third-party provider.
  • Demonstrated success in matrix environments, with excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Working knowledge of specific products and processes, including molding, stamping, PCB/PCBA, diecasting, and bulk cable.
  • Proficiency in supplier APQP tools, such as APQP, PPAP, FMEA, CP, MSA, SPC, R@R, and 8D.
  • Ability to work effectively across cultures and countries, with thorough knowledge of problem-solving methodologies.
  • Mandatory process auditing skills and basic proficiency in SAP.
  • Advanced knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) and reading technical drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent communication and coaching skills, with the ability to influence and motivate others.
