About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated Database Developer with experience in the insurance domain, particularly supporting Finance Modules of Policy Administration Systems. The role will be part of the IT Department, focusing on application support, data analysis, and reports development to ensure operational efficiency and compliance with financial processes.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Application Development
● Develop and maintain SQL scripts, stored procedures, and views to support finance operations
● Design and generate financial reports and dashboards for internal departments such as Finance, Actuarial, and Audit using tools such as SSRS, Power BI, or Crystal Reports
● Develop and optimize SQL queries to ensure high performance and efficiency
● Maintain and improve existing database structures and processes
● Implement data integration solutions to synchronize data across different systems
● Ensure data integrity, security, and availability
● Develop and maintain ETL / ELT processes
● Collaborate with software developers to integrate databases with applications
● Write and maintain comprehensive documentation for database objects
● Enforce coding standards, participate in code reviews, and ensure best practices for source control management (e.g., Git, GitHub, GitLab)

Application Support
● Log, track, and manage enhancement requests and defects using Jira Service Management as a ticketing system
● Provide application support for Finance Modules within the Policy Administration System (PAS), addressing issues related to accounting entries, billing, collections, and disbursements
● Analyze and troubleshoot finance-related data issues; propose and implement corrective actions
● Conduct data analysis to support reconciliation, audits, month-end closing, and other financial processes
● Conduct data analysis and provide insights to support decision-making
● Document troubleshooting steps and resolutions for future reference and knowledge sharing
● Communicate effectively with end-users, understanding their requirements, and providing clear and concise resolutions

Collaboration
● Work closely with development, testing, and infrastructure teams to ensure seamless application deployment and operation
● Participate in cross-functional teams to contribute to the improvement of applications and support processes

Technical Leadership
● Stay current with industry best practices and emerging technologies related to backend development, data warehouse / data lake
● Share knowledge and provide training to colleagues, promoting a culture of continuous learning

Qualifications:
● BS in Accounting, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
● Proven experience as a Database Developer or Application Support preferably in insurance or finance-related systems
● Proficient in SQL development, including writing and optimizing complex queries, stored procedures, and triggers
● Strong background in financial data analysis, especially in insurance contexts like policy billing, commissions, and claims accounting
● Proven experience with data warehouse concepts, ETL tools and processes
● Knowledge of database performance tuning and optimization is a plus
● Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
● Ability to work independently and as part of a team
● Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders
