The Accountant/Accounting Staff is responsible for maintaining financial records, preparing financial statements, ensuring compliance with tax regulations, and supporting the overall financial operations of the company. This role requires attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple financial tasks simultaneously, and a strong understanding of Philippine Accounting Standards (PAS), tax laws, and accounting principles.
The role requires a proactive individual who can work well within a team, assist in audits, and provide accurate financial reporting that contributes to the company’s success.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Record-Keeping
Bookkeeping: Record and maintain daily financial transactions, including purchases, sales, receipts, and payments.
General ledger maintenance: Ensure all financial entries are posted accurately to the general ledger and that accounts are reconciled regularly.
Journal entries: Prepare and post accurate journal entries for month-end and year-end closing.
Account reconciliation: Perform monthly reconciliation of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank statements to ensure accurate financial records.

2. Financial Reporting
Prepare financial statements: Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
Budget monitoring: Help track and compare actual performance against budgeted figures and report discrepancies.
Prepare tax reports: Assist in the preparation of tax filings, including VAT, income tax, and withholding tax returns, in compliance with BIR (Bureau of Internal Revenue) regulations.

3. Tax Compliance
Tax computation: Assist in computing and filing taxes for the company (e.g., VAT, withholding tax, income tax).
Prepare tax returns: Prepare, submit, and ensure timely filing of tax returns to the BIR, following tax regulations and guidelines.
Tax reporting: Prepare tax documents and schedules for review by management or external auditors.

4. Accounts Payable & Receivable
Vendor management: Manage accounts payable, ensuring payments are made on time and accurately recorded.
Customer invoicing: Prepare and issue invoices to clients, track accounts receivable, and follow up on overdue payments.
Reconcile vendor and customer accounts: Ensure the accounts payable and receivable records match the company’s general ledger and bank records.

5. Payroll Processing
Assist in payroll computation: Support the preparation of payroll, ensuring correct computation of salaries, deductions, benefits (e.g., SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG), and taxes.
Maintain records: Keep track of employees’ timesheets and attendance records for accurate payroll processing.

6. Audit & Internal Controls
Assist in audits: Help with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and supporting materials.
Internal controls: Ensure that financial transactions are carried out according to company policies and in compliance with Philippine regulations.
Monitor discrepancies: Report any financial discrepancies or errors and recommend corrective actions.

7. Banking & Cash Management
Bank reconciliations: Reconcile daily and monthly bank statements to ensure that company records align with the bank’s records.
Cash management: Assist in managing petty cash, preparing disbursements, and ensuring proper documentation for all transactions.

8. Administrative Support
Assist senior accountants: Provide support to senior accountants, managers, or other team members in preparing reports, financial analysis, or any other accounting-related tasks.
Maintain accounting files: Organize and maintain accounting documents, invoices, receipts, and other records for easy retrieval.
Handle inquiries: Address inquiries from internal departments, vendors, and customers regarding accounts and financial matters.

Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy or related field.
Licensed Accountant (CPA) is a plus, but not required for all roles.
Experience:
At least 1-2 years of experience in accounting, finance, or bookkeeping.
Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Xero) is an advantage.
Familiarity with Philippine tax laws and financial reporting standards (PFRS and PAS) is highly desirable.

Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of basic accounting principles, financial reporting, and bookkeeping.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other office software.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work with numbers.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information.
Strong problem-solving skills and initiative.
