As an IT Data Architect, you will be responsible for designing and implementing the overall data architecture and strategy for the organization, with a focus on Power BI and Microsoft SQL Server. Your role will involve working closely with stakeholders, analyzing data requirements, and developing data models to support business objectives while leveraging Power BI and Microsoft SQL Server capabilities. You will play a critical role in ensuring data integrity, security, and availability, as well as driving data-driven decision making within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Architecture Design: Develop and maintain the organization's data architecture framework, including data models, data flow diagrams, and data integration strategies, with a specific emphasis on Power BI and Microsoft SQL Server. Define data standards, guidelines, and best practices to ensure consistency and scalability.
  • Data Governance and Quality: Ensure master data integrity in key systems and maintain processes to support data quality. Identify areas for data quality improvements and help resolve data quality problems through appropriate error detection and correction, process control and improvement, or process design strategies. Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) and data stewards to define and implement data strategy, policies, controls, and programs to ensure accurate, complete, secure, and reliable enterprise data.
  • Data Modeling and Integration: Collaborate with business analysts, data scientists, and other stakeholders to identify data requirements and translate them into logical and physical data models, utilizing Power BI and Microsoft SQL Server. Design data structures that optimize data storage, retrieval, and analysis. Develop and implement data integration solutions using Power BI and Microsoft SQL Server to enable seamless data flow across systems.
  • Data Security and Privacy: Collaborate with security teams to define and implement data security measures, including encryption, access controls, and data masking, within the context of Power BI and Microsoft SQL Server. Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and implement strategies to protect sensitive data.
  • Data Analytics Support: Work closely with data analysts and data scientists, utilizing Power BI and Microsoft SQL Server, to provide guidance on data availability, accessibility, and usability. Support the development of data analytics and reporting solutions using Power BI and Microsoft SQL Server to enable data-driven decision making.
  • Data Management and Governance: Manage, analyze, and resolve data initiative issues, ensuring revisions meet internal and customer requirements while adhering to published data standards. Collaborate with other functional data owners to ensure the integrity and consistency of functional master data across financial systems, aligning with business rules and requirements. Work closely with business and IT stakeholders to ensure alignment of master data rules and application operations.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field Proven experience as a Data Architect or similar role with a strong grasp of data management principles, methodologies, and technologies.
  • Proficiency in data modeling tools and database management systems (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL).
  • Knowledge of data integration techniques and technologies (e.g., ETL, API integration, data warehousing).
  • Familiarity with data governance frameworks, security, and privacy regulations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for translating business requirements into data solutions.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms and Big Data technologies is a plus.
  • Proficient in Power BI for data visualization and reporting.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server, including design, development, and optimization.
  • Knowledge of Power Query and DAX language in Power BI.
  • Understanding of Power BI data modeling concepts and best practices.
  • Experience in developing Power BI reports and dashboards, including data extraction, transformation, and visualization.
  • Familiarity with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) for ETL processes and SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) for modeling.
  • Able to create and optimize SQL queries and stored procedures in Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Understanding of data warehousing concepts and methodologies.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting and resolving Power BI and Microsoft SQL Server-related issues.
  • Certification in Power BI and Microsoft SQL Server is a plus.
  • Ensuring master data integrity and data quality in key systems.
  • Proficiency in identifying areas for data quality improvements and implementing error detection and correction strategies.
  • Knowledge of data management, governance, and quality practices.
  • Ability to collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) and data stewards to define data strategy, policies, controls, and programs.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in resolving data quality problems.
  • Experience in managing data initiatives and ensuring compliance with data standards.
  • Knowledgeable about data management best practices and industry standards.
  • Able to align master data rules and application operations with business and IT stakeholders.
