IT Head

Job Purpose

The IT Head is responsible for leading the strategic planning, development, implementation, and management of Waltermart's information technology infrastructure, systems, and applications. This role ensures technology supports business objectives, enhances operational efficiency, secures company data, and delivers innovative digital solutions for customers and employees across all store locations and corporate functions.

Key Responsibilities1. Strategic IT Leadership

• Develop and execute Waltermart's IT roadmap aligned with business goals and retail industry trends.

• Lead digital transformation initiatives to improve customer experience, operational productivity, and supply chain efficiency.

• Advise senior management on emerging technologies and innovations relevant to retail.

2. IT Operations & Infrastructure Management

• Oversee daily IT operations, ensuring system uptime, reliability, and performance across all branches and head office.

• Manage the maintenance and optimization of enterprise networks, servers, POS systems, ERP, and other retail technology platforms.

• Ensure disaster recovery, business continuity, and data backup processes are in place.

3. Cybersecurity & Compliance

• Implement and maintain robust cybersecurity frameworks to protect company data, systems, and customer information.

• Ensure compliance with relevant data privacy laws, PCI DSS standards, and other regulatory requirements.

4. Application & Systems Development

• Oversee the selection, customization, and integration of enterprise applications such as ERP, CRM, HRIS, and POS systems.

• Lead cross-functional projects to enhance system capabilities and ensure smooth integration with business processes.

5. Team Leadership & Vendor Management

• Lead, mentor, and develop the IT team, fostering a high-performance and service-oriented culture.

• Manage IT vendors, contracts, and service-level agreements to ensure cost-effective and high-quality delivery.

6. Budgeting & Cost Management

• Prepare and manage the IT department budget, ensuring optimal allocation of resources.

• Identify opportunities for cost savings through technology optimization and process automation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (Master's degree preferred).

• Minimum 10 years of IT experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role in retail, FMCG, or related industries.

• Strong background in IT infrastructure, enterprise systems, retail POS, and ERP solutions.

• Demonstrated experience in digital transformation projects.

• Solid understanding of cybersecurity, data privacy regulations, and IT governance.

• Proven vendor management and contract negotiation skills.

• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
